I usually don’t watch movies especially Bollywood movies as they are long and have similar type of senseless stories. Though I am not here to compare Bollywood movies with Hollywood as I don’t like either. To me watching movies it’s like a waste of time, money and efforts. But anyways last Saturday I was feeling bore and was not feeling good to work on my online business. So I thought why not go for a movie. I don’t know why this thought came in my mind, as I can’t remember when was the last time I went to theater to watch movies. But anyways I call to some of my friends to know whether anyone of them are free to come along with me. Unfortunately none of them were available, they either had some overtime in their office or their wives have already booked them for outing. None of my these friends can dare say NO to their wives. If only I new them they are so cowards I wouldn’t have made them friends. I had now no option but to go alone and watch movies silently like a dumb without having any fun. But anyways I went to a multiplex theater, not yet sure which movie to watch. Since it was a multiplex there were more than one movies, and I was wondering which could be the best. As I don’t have much ideas about bollywood actors and actress and who are good in acting, I had to simply select any one of them and hope I can stay back for 2 and half hours or till the movie ends. The movie I choose to watch was “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”
When I first saw the title “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” which literally means “Run Milkha Run”, I thought in my mind, may be its a film on someone who had stolen something or did something extremely wrong, and hence not to get caught by the police he is been told “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” otherwise you would be caught and put into jail for rest of your life. But to my surprise the movie was not like this. This movie was about an athlete who narrowly lost his biggest race of life.
The movie is directed by Rakeysh Mehra and the scriptwriter of this movie is Prasoon Joshi. The movie starts with Olympic Race in Rome, the race in which “Milka Singh” the character on which this film based on narrowly lost. Even though he lost the race, but wins the heart of many. This movie is very entertaining and make you feel pride. When you come out of the theater you have feeling, that life is not just about winning, though its very important but winning is not everything.
So why does Rakeysh Mehra decided to make a movie on Milka Singh? Its not because Milka was a great athlete but because of his never dying spirit. As he describe him
“This boy, who came from a village and was an orphan at 11, actually witnessed the massacre of his family members, including his brothers and sisters. He picked a knife to survive at 11. He spent time in (Delhi’s) Tihar Jail before he joined the army. He wanted respect and to be a human being against all odds. That’s what a wonderful human being he is, and that’s what got me into the movie, not the records he made.”
Movie is quiet entertaining till last, though like any other bollywood movies, there were unnecessary songs inserted. But overall its a nice movie to watch.
